Bali visa in 2026: visa on arrival, e-VOA, tourist levy and arrival card
As of October 2026, Turkish citizens can enter Indonesia visa-free for up to 30 days, while UK and German passport holders, and as far as we found other EU travellers, need the visa on arrival or e-VOA (IDR 500,000 for 30 days); check your nationality at evisa.imigrasi.go.id. Everyone also pays Bali's IDR 150,000 tourist levy and files the free All Indonesia arrival declaration. Below are the steps in order, what each costs, how extensions work, and four hotels for a first 7–14 day trip.
For a first 7–14 day trip, the paperwork fits into one evening. UK and EU travellers apply for the e-VOA a week or more ahead; Turkish travellers on a trip of 30 days or less skip that step. Everyone pays the levy online and fills in the All Indonesia form in the last 3 days before the flight. Keep the levy QR code and your onward ticket on your phone.
Two more things before you land. By law every transaction in Indonesia is in rupiah, and the FCDO (18 September 2026) advises changing money only at licensed changers that show the Bank Indonesia logo and a QR code you can scan. For health, the CDC (25 August 2026) recommends routine vaccines, hepatitis A and B for unvaccinated travellers and typhoid for most, and reports no malaria transmission in Bali's resort areas or Ubud. A CDC Level 2 Zika notice for Indonesia (7 August 2026) follows cases in travellers returning from Bali: prevent mosquito bites and sexual transmission during and after the trip. The FCDO (18 September 2026) says tap water is not safe to drink.
The four hotels below follow a common shape for a first trip: a night near the airport after the long flight, a few nights in Ubud, then the coast. The meal plan varies by rate; you see what is included on the booking screen before you pay. Rooms are confirmed after payment, and any tours or boat trips are separate and optional.
How to enter Bali in 2026, step by step
Check your passport and onward ticket
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive. The UK Foreign Office (FCDO, last updated 18 September 2026, checked 16 October 2026) also asks for 2 blank pages, and you need a ticket out of Indonesia. Travelling on a passport you have reported lost or stolen means you are refused entry.
UK and EU passports: visa on arrival or e-VOA
UK and German citizens are not visa-exempt, and as far as we found neither are other EU citizens; check your nationality at evisa.imigrasi.go.id. The visa on arrival (B1) costs IDR 500,000, is single-entry and gives 30 days; you buy it on arrival or apply online as an e-VOA at evisa.imigrasi.go.id. The e-VOA must be approved before you land, and the FCDO advises applying at least a week ahead. When we checked the official portal on 16 October 2026, it listed B1, not the visa-free A1, for the UK and Germany.
Turkish passports: 30 days visa-free
Since 3 July 2025, Turkish citizens can enter Indonesia, Bali included, without a visa for up to 30 days, free of charge, for tourism, business meetings or medical treatment. That stay cannot be extended or converted to another permit. If your trip could run past 30 days, enter on the visa on arrival or e-VOA instead (IDR 500,000), which can be extended once to 60 days in total.
Pay the Bali tourist levy: IDR 150,000
Every international tourist pays IDR 150,000 per person, once per trip, visa-exempt visitors included. Pay before you travel at lovebali.baliprov.go.id or in the Love Bali app, by card, bank transfer or QRIS, and keep the QR code that arrives by email. Counters at Bali's airport and ports also take payment (Love Bali FAQ, checked 16 October 2026).
Fill in the All Indonesia declaration
Since 1 October 2025 every international arrival must complete the All Indonesia declaration, one form covering immigration, customs, health and quarantine. Fill it in during the 3 days before you land, at allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id or in the All Indonesia app. It is free, and the FCDO warns about fake sites that charge a fee. Without it you face slower manual checks at the counter.
Extensions, overstays and what may change
A visa on arrival or e-VOA can be extended once by 30 days for IDR 500,000: online for an e-VOA, at an immigration office for a paper VOA, no earlier than 14 days before the permit runs out. Overstaying costs IDR 1,000,000 per day (FCDO, last updated 18 September 2026). Indonesia is discussing a higher visa-on-arrival fee of IDR 750,000–1,000,000; it was not in force in October 2026, so check evisa.imigrasi.go.id before you pay.

- near the airportbeachfrontkids' poolquietCurator's verdict
The easiest first night in Bali: 15–20 minutes from arrivals, small and quiet, with the pool as the reliable swim.
- Who it suits:
- Couples, and families with one small child, landing on an evening flight.
- Good to know:
- Most rooms face the garden, so book a Beach View category if you want the sea. Reviewers say currents can bring litter onto the beach; the infinity pool is the dependable swim.

A small, low-rise cluster of cottage suites and pool villas directly on Jimbaran Bay, 15 to 20 minutes by car from the airport. Most rooms face the garden; only the Beach View categories look onto the sand.
It is on this page for the first night. On the summer 2026 schedule, Turkish Airlines' nonstop from Istanbul landed at 19:15 daily, plus 20:00 on three days a week, and after passport control you want a short drive, not two hours to Ubud. One reviewer calls it their first stop in Bali every time.
- walkablerice-terrace viewskids' poolquietCurator's verdict
The right spot for Ubud without depending on a car: quiet valley nights and a ten-minute walk to the centre.
- Who it suits:
- Couples and families spending a few nights in Ubud.
- Good to know:
- There is one restaurant on site, serving Indonesian food. Ubud Market and the Monkey Forest are about 20 minutes on foot, so take a short taxi for those.

A hillside hotel above the Campuhan river valley on Jalan Bisma, with an infinity pool over rice terraces and jungle and a mix of suites and private-pool villas. Ubud Palace and central Ubud's restaurants are about ten minutes on foot.
It is the Ubud leg of a two-area trip. Walking to dinner means you do not need a driver every evening, and the children's wading pool below the main pool makes it work for families as well as couples. Allow 1.5–2 hours by car from the airport.
- walkablekids' clublagoon poolfirst tripCurator's verdict
An easy, walkable beach base with enough for children to do.
- Who it suits:
- First-timers who want a gentle start, and families with children aged 6–12.
- Good to know:
- Reviewers rate the beach as unremarkable for swimming, so the three pools do most of the work. At about 30 minutes, the airport is further than from Jimbaran.

A village-style resort on Sanur's beachfront, built around a shared lagoon pool and Village Square, a food court with four counters. A shopping street sits right behind it, and the hotel gives the airport as about 30 minutes away.
It suits the calm second half of a first trip. Cafés and the Friday-to-Sunday Pasar Sindhu night market are on foot, the kids' club takes ages 6–12, and boats to Nusa Penida leave from the harbour along the same beach, booked separately.

Seminyak's restaurants on foot, with a garden quiet enough to come back to.
- Who it suits:
- Couples who want beach, gardens and evenings out without a taxi.
- Good to know:
- Reviews call the shared pool dated and mention road noise in some rooms; ask for a room set back from the road, or a villa with its own pool.

A long-standing hotel in 16 acres of gardens on Seminyak Beach, with 500 metres of sand and thatched-roof lanai rooms and villas. The hotel puts the airport 9 km away; the drive time depends on traffic.
Pick it if you want restaurants and sunset bars on foot: Seminyak Square is about six minutes away and Ku De Ta is within walking distance. Wi-Fi costs extra, and the meal plan varies by rate, so check both on the booking screen.

Questions before you book
Do UK and EU citizens need a visa for Bali in 2026?
Yes. As of October 2026, UK and German passport holders, and as far as we found other EU passport holders, use the visa on arrival or e-VOA: IDR 500,000 for 30 days, single entry, extendable once by 30 days. Check your nationality and apply for the e-VOA at evisa.imigrasi.go.id at least a week before you fly; it must be approved before you land.
Do Turkish citizens need a visa for Bali?
No, for stays of up to 30 days. Since 3 July 2025 Turkish citizens have been visa-exempt in Indonesia, Bali included, free of charge, and the stay cannot be extended. For a longer trip, take the IDR 500,000 visa on arrival or e-VOA instead.
How far ahead should I apply for the Bali e-VOA?
At least a week before you fly, as the FCDO advises. The e-VOA must be approved before you land, so do not leave it to the departure lounge. If you are short of time, the same B1 visa is sold on arrival for IDR 500,000.
How much is the Bali tourist levy, and how do I pay it?
IDR 150,000 per person, once per trip, as of October 2026. Pay before you travel at lovebali.baliprov.go.id or in the Love Bali app by card, bank transfer or QRIS, and keep the QR code from your email. Counters at the airport and ports take payment too.
What is the All Indonesia arrival card, and is it free?
It is one online form covering immigration, customs, health and quarantine, mandatory for every international arrival since 1 October 2025. Fill it in during the 3 days before you land, at allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id or in the app. It is free; the FCDO warns about fake sites that charge.
Can I extend my visa in Bali?
Of the two options on this page, only the visa on arrival or e-VOA can be extended: once, by 30 days, for IDR 500,000, which gives 60 days in total. Apply no earlier than 14 days before the permit expires: online for an e-VOA, at an immigration office for a paper VOA. The 30-day visa-free entry for Turkish citizens cannot be extended. Other visit visas sold at evisa.imigrasi.go.id, such as 60-day and multiple-entry visas, have their own rules.
What is the fine for overstaying in Bali?
IDR 1,000,000 per day, according to the FCDO's Indonesia advice (last updated 18 September 2026, checked 16 October 2026). Count your days from arrival, and either extend before the permit runs out or book your flight home inside it.
How long must my passport be valid to enter Bali?
At least 6 months from your arrival date. The FCDO also asks for 2 blank pages, and you need an onward or return ticket. Turkish citizens cannot enter Indonesia on a national ID card.
