The Slow is a small, design-driven hotel on Batu Bolong, built around an art gallery, live music and a restaurant scene rather than a resort pool — there is no shared pool on the property, only the plunge pool in its top suite category. It's about a six-minute walk to Batu Bolong Beach, on a street guests describe as noisy at times. Book the Suite with Private Pool if a pool matters; otherwise treat the beach as your pool and the hotel as your base for design, food and music.
The Slow is a small design hotel on Batu Bolong, built around an on-site art gallery, live music and a restaurant that draws local diners as much as travellers. Rooms come in two categories only: a Suite with native-wood furnishings, and a Suite with Private Pool — the only way to get a pool on this property, since there is no shared pool anywhere on-site.
The location does the rest of the work: Batu Bolong Beach and its strip of restaurants and shops are about six minutes' walk, and Echo Beach's quieter break is a short walk further. Guests consistently praise the design and the staff, and just as consistently mention street noise, thin walls, and a lack of in-room basics like a kettle or coffee.
This is a hotel for the design and the location, not the amenities. If a shared pool matters, book the Suite with Private Pool specifically, since the base Suite has none at all — or accept that the beach, six minutes away, is the swim option for most guests here.
The location was great. Very accessible to beach and restaurants around us. The room was spacious and clean. The music option was a nice touch. The amenities in the room were premium and nice. Baked right outside the room door was super convenient
— The private pool didn't get enough sun. The noise outside and upstairs sometimes is too much (yes we've been warned before though)
Styling and size of the room
— Not a lot of room to sit by the pool. No restaurant for bar or breakfast. Cafe next door not affiliated and stark with menu that didn’t appeal
The space was huge! And the design was amazing. I felt very comfortable
Not officially, but every room type — Suite and Suite with Private Pool — maxes out at two guests, so it isn't set up for families with children.
There's no shared pool on the property; only the Suite with Private Pool has one. The hotel sits about six minutes' walk from Batu Bolong Beach, which is the realistic swim option otherwise.
General transfer times to Canggu run from around 45 minutes to under two hours depending on traffic; arrange your own car or taxi and build in a buffer, since a transfer isn't stated as included.
The Suite with Private Pool if a pool matters at all — it's the only room with one. The plain Suite is the value pick for guests happy to swim at the beach instead.
Batu Bolong Beach and its restaurant strip are about six minutes on foot. Echo Beach's quieter break is a short walk further, and Tanah Lot temple is about 30–45 minutes by car.

With no communal pool on the property, this 80-square-metre suite is the only room category that comes with a plunge pool of its own — book it if swimming matters more than a six-minute walk to the beach.
Value pick:Suite — the same design and native-wood furnishings at 60 square metres, without any pool, for guests planning to use Batu Bolong Beach instead.
The beach the hotel's own walkability depends on, with restaurants and shops lining the street down to it — the closest swim option since there's no pool at the hotel.
A quieter surf break past Batu Bolong's crowd, worth the extra few minutes if the main beach feels busy.
The coastal sea temple up the shoreline, an easy half-day out if you time the drive around Canggu's traffic.
