//JAZ Fanara Resort
A four-star on the Ras Um Sid cliff whose whole case is the shore reef at the bottom of the steps: you walk in from the sand and swim out to coral and fish that the big Nabq resorts drive their guests across town to see. Rooms are small and the lowest category is a long walk from the sea, so book Superior or above. Come for the water and the location; don't come for space or serenity.
JAZ Fanara Resort stands on the cliff at Ras Um Sid, on El Fanar street beside the lighthouse, about 21 km from the airport at the southern end of Sharm. This is the part of the coast with the shore reefs, and the hotel's is a good one: a sandy beach in a sheltered bay at the bottom of around 60 steps, a coral shelf straight off the sand, fish from the first few metres. A dive centre sits on the beach.
The rooms are the trade-off. Standard rooms are 15 m² and, along with the family suites, sit 200–500 m from the main building and the beach; there are no lifts. Superior rooms (25 m²) in garden, pool or sea view are where the hotel makes sense, and the Junior Suite Queen Bed Sea View is the one with real space.
Restaurants are El Medina and La Gazelle with themed venues alongside; guests single out Nino's Italian. One main pool, a children's pool and a quieter pool section; evening shows run until 11 pm. Meal plan varies by rate. The location is the other half of the argument: Farsha Café is a three-minute taxi, the Old Market about 2 km, and Al Fanar's public beach next door. A four-star with a five-star sea.
Everything

The Jaz was a wonderful surprise. We landed extremely late at night and were originally in one of the garden rooms which didn’t suit us. The next morning we spoke to the reception, Hany Saad was fantastic and ensured we were looked after and were able to move to a Seaview with twin beds. The room was cool and comfortable. The house reef was exceptional. The marine life is the best I’ve ever seen. It’s an all-inclusive resort which was a surprise to us so you could have drinks breakfast lunch and dinner was all included. We use the dive centre to go for a snorkel and introduction dive. The staff were extremely professional and caring and the boat was luxury. We will definitely be back!!
I want to write an special thank you to the chef Mohamed. I have to eat gluten free and he made me feel Very safe. He even made me special plates. Thank you!!! You made my stay so much better.
No. It is a family-friendly four-star with a kids' club, family rooms and evening entertainment. The group's 16+ hotel in Sharm is JAZ Elite Palace, listed separately.
A sandy beach in a protected bay below the cliff, reached by roughly 60 steps, with a shore reef you enter straight from the sand and swim out to; there is no pontoon. Guests mention puffer fish and rays. It is the reason to book.
About 21 km, at the southern end of Sharm; reckon on half an hour. Rates generally don't include a transfer: taxi or pre-booked car, and charter groups usually have it arranged. Meal plan varies by rate.
Superior Queen or Twin Bed Sea View. Superior Garden or Pool View to save; Deluxe Family Queen or Twin Bed Garden View for four; Junior Suite Queen Bed Sea View (75 m²) if you want real space. Avoid the 15 m² Standard.
The El Fanar lighthouse point and Al Fanar's public beach are a short walk along the street; Farsha Café is a three-minute taxi; the Old Market is about 2 km. Naama Bay is a taxi ride.

Twenty-five square metres is small, but this is the sea-facing side of a cliff hotel where the view is the reason you came, and Superior rooms sit near the main building rather than the 200–500 m out where the Standard rooms and family suites are. Sleeps up to three.
Value pick:Superior Queen or Twin Bed Garden or Pool View — the same room without the sea; skip the 15 m² Standard, which is also the furthest from the beach.

The public shore reef next door for when the hotel beach is crowded: the same coral shelf, a different crowd, and one of Sharm's better sunsets. Go for the last two hours of light.
Sharm's most photographed sunset terrace, carved into the cliff with cushions and lanterns. Book a table for sunset; the hotel's private taxis do the run.

The nearest real town to any Sharm resort: the mosque at dusk, spice stalls and fish restaurants in one walk, without the long ride the Nabq hotels need.
