COMO Uma Ubud sits above the Tjampuhan Valley in Kedewatan, on the quiet, wooded side street of Jalan Raya Sanggingan rather than in central Ubud itself. The design is minimalist and thatched, built into a hillside, and every villa from Garden Pool Villa upward has its own plant-rimmed pool; smaller Ubud and Terrace Rooms share a garden pool with a wooden deck and bar.
The wellness side is the real draw: a COMO Shambhala centre with Chakra Healing and Javanese Royal Lulur treatments, a yoga pavilion looking over the jungle, and multi-day Active, Sleep, Cleanse or Beauty programmes rather than a single spa menu. The hotel also runs free guided walks through the surrounding village, useful if you'd rather explore with someone who knows the paths.
It is not a walk-to-town hotel. A free shuttle covers the ride into downtown Ubud in about five minutes, and the Neka Art Museum is close enough to reach on foot, but the market and restaurant strip are a short ride away, not a stroll. Expect steps across the hillside site, no lift, and geckos and frogs after dark — normal for a jungle valley, not a flaw. Meal plan varies by rate.
