A wide sandy beach that runs about 2 km from the north end of Kuta to Double Six. A narrow road and a beach path separate it from the hotels, restaurants and bars behind. Waves break over sand, and surf schools teach beginners at the gentler northern end. Lifeguard posts stand at set points, and currents can be strong.
Kuta's calmer neighbour, a wide beach for a long walk at the end of the day. If you swim, stay between the red and yellow flags; the currents here are no joke. In the rainy season the sand can be messy with washed-up rubbish.

A small design hotel built around an art gallery, live music and a restaurant; there is no shared pool, and only the top suite category has its own. The beach is about six minutes on foot; light sleepers should factor in street noise and thin walls.
