Perched on the edge of a magnificent 70-meter cliff plunging sheer into the Indian Ocean at the southwestern tip of Bali, Uluwatu Temple (Pura Luhur Uluwatu) is one of the island's most spiritually and visually breathtaking landmarks. Dating back to the 11th century, this ancient structure is revered in Balinese belief as one of the six spiritual pillars (Sad Kahyangan) that protect the island from evil sea spirits.

When it comes to sunsets in Bali, Uluwatu is the first place that comes to everyone's mind. But its true magic begins when you break away from the clicking of hundreds of cameras and feel the raw power of the immense Indian Ocean at the edge of the cliff. The sense of infinity you experience while watching the fierce waves crash against the rocks from a seventy-meter drop is a profound moment that reminds you of your own scale in the universe. My advice: don't just watch the famous Kecak dance and leave. Walk to the furthest edge of the temple path, feel the wind on your face, and witness those few minutes when the sun sinks into the ocean not through a phone screen, but purely with your own eyes.
